After seeing a movie called "American Drug War: The Last White Hope" I had to start this site asking the question of just what is it with legal drugs and their acceptance and why are widely considered "soft" or natural drugs policed so hard. I have used in the past various drugs and experimented but do not now, however i still believe that our governments are extremely hypocritical when it comes to drug policies. Sure there are drugs that cause problems, and many class A or "hard" drugs are included but why is it that we are so lost in this so called war? and what war is it? war against drug dealers? users? or our own self conscious? Do we feel guilty about our publicly accepted drugs such as alcohol? is this why we must look down on these illegal drug users? Sign the petition:- http://www.gopetition.com/petitions/legalize-marijuana-in-australia.html More to come but i had to start this, if you have something to add sign up and add an article i will be allowing public access to this site moderated by myself simply to keep the argument on track. Here are some links to what got me to start this site, as you can imagine it was my shock at how the conviction of Tommy Chong went down and why he was convicted for selling legal water pipes. http://www.akatommychong.com/media.html http://www.rottentomatoes.com/vine/printthread.php?t=482721 http://www.theadvocates.org/celebrities/tommy-chong.html http://www.post-gazette.com/localnews/20030912chong0912p5.asp http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tommy_Chong I also found NORML - http://norml.org/ a group helping decriminalize marijuana when investigating this i also found that freetommychong.com was owned by Moe Wampum, Inc. which i found on campaignmoney.com listed as a political organization??? interesting hey? Thomas Chong was also made to surrender his domain when convicted, a quick search of the net shows many Tommy Chong related domain names unavailable or diverted to shell websites. I think when we talk about drugs we also need to separate synthetic drugs from natural drugs, and look at the hard facts of just how many people suffer and die as a result of both tobacco and alcohol compared to many natural drugs and even some synthetic or processed drugs. Look at who we are putting into prisons and who is really behind the supply of both legal and illegal drugs. There are so many questions raised in this movie and with drug policies and actions "against drugs", is it really against drugs or against people, or to be more specific is it a way of our governments targeting minorities simply because they are considered "incompatible" with society. I bet many of you can think of people you know that would or coudl be better off for example smoking pot instead of drinking, how many pot smokers are known to be aggressive, abusive or unstable?
Tommy's interview from youtube: I do not condone any drug use, but i am simply asking what are our real intentions when policing and mandating drug laws and how we class these different drugs. It should also be noted that this site is not endorsed by nor has anything to do with Thomas "Tommy" B. Kin Chong himself other than the mention of his conviction and the fact that it is what shocked me into starting this site. (well not endorsed yet anyway Tommy if you see this site i'd love to speak to you lol) |
